Welterweight title challenger Colby Covington accuses UFC stars of rejecting fight

Ultimate favorite to face Leon edwards in the welterweight title fight (up to 77,1kg.), Colby covington returned to the news sharply. Number two in the category ranking, the 'bad boy' of the group accused Dustin poirier e Khamzat Shimaev, stars of the company, for having rejected challenges. In an interview with the channel YouTube de Chael Sonnen', the North American explained.

“I was ready from day one. Since the fight against Jorge (Masvidal). I accepted all the fights they offered me. The first was Dustin (Poirier). He is a coward, he was scared and ran away from the challenge. (…) Then it was (Khamzat) Chimaev’s turn. I was ready to end the expectation on him, but he is scared. He's not professional, a bit silly and escaped the category. (…) He says he is a great name, but from a distance. He doesn’t speak inside the Octagon, he doesn’t sign contracts,” he concluded.

Without fighting for over a year, Covington is awaiting the success of negotiations to face the current welterweight champion, Leon edwards. Instant booking on UFC 286, Colby had his status as challenger assured by Dana White shortly after the Englishman's triumph in a rematch against Kamaru Usman.

In a recent interview with 'TNT Sports', the president of Ultimate admitted the chances of the champion of the category up to 77,1kg. put the title on the line on November 11th. The duel between Edwards and Covington, however, remains unofficial by the company.
