McGregor takes advantage of Khabib's cousin's injury and cut in UFC fight to provoke former rival

Upon learning of Umar's injury, which removed the Russian from the decisive fight in August, the Irishman takes the opportunity to poke fun at his enemies

Cut off from decisive struggle against Cory Sandhagen by UFC on August 5, Umar Nurmagomedov was used as 'bait' by Conor McGregor as ammunition for the rivalry against Khabib. Upon learning of the injury of his former enemy's cousin, the Irishman took the opportunity to needle his biggest MMA rival. In a publication, later deleted, 'Notório' provoked.

“Running away runs in the family,” wrote Conor, on Twitter.

Former lightweight champions (up to 70,3kg), McGregor and Khabib had one of the biggest rivalries in the history of MMA. In 2018, the fighters faced each other in the highest-rated event in the UFC's almost 30 years.

In the fight, better for the Russian. Then champion of the category, Nurmagomedov had a dominant performance and submitted the former division leader in the fourth round.

Khabib's triumph, however, ended up overshadowed by widespread confusion started by the Russian himself after his positive result. After overcoming Conor, the 'Eagle' jumped over the cage in an attempt to reach Dillon Danis, McGregor's training partner and personal friend.

With Nurmagomedov's action, the teams clashed and had to be separated by Ultimate security. After the episode, both received harsh suspensions from the Nevada Athletic Commission.
