Chael Sonnen doesn't mince words and harshly criticizes Tyson Fury for accepting a fight against Francis Ngannou

Contrary to so many who celebrated Francis Ngannou, Chael Sonnen did not like the confirmation of the fight between the former UFC heavyweight champion (up to 120,2kg) and the world boxing champion Tyson Fury in noble art.

In an interview with 'The Schmo', the former fighter and current UFC commentator compared the clash between Ngannou and Fury to a possible clash between elite basketball and American football teams under NFL rules.

“It’s the most ridiculous sporting competition of our generation. Let me give you an example. Take the Los Angeles Lakers at the time that had names like Shaq (O'Neal) and Kobe Bryant, may they rest in peace. Remember when they were really good? And you put Phil Jackson as their coach. Take them and put them against Tom Brady and the Patriots. You have two great teams, but they will compete under American football rules. Do you see how stupid this is? Do you understand why it never happened or was even discussed? That’s what’s happening here,” said Sonnen.

And he didn't stop there. Not content with criticizing the fight as a whole, Chael Sonnen fired personal criticisms at Tyson Fury, calling the Brit an 'asshole' and 'bully' for agreeing to face Ngannou.

“What kind of asshole are you? Tyson Fury? I need to tell you: Fury broke my heart. I liked the guy and the entertainment. I liked many things about him. You get a guy like Fury, who God made huge, gave him great coaches, training partners, great experiences too. He has weapons and tools that other men cannot handle if they are not armed. And he chooses to use that to beat up a guy who is at least 37 years old, has no experience and only has one leg? That's a bully and an asshole. I would never do that to anyone. Jesse James made a lot of money and hit men make a lot of money too. There are things you can do, but you have to deal with it. You are a bully and an asshole”, he concluded.

With or without the approval of Chael Sonnen, Francis Ngannou e Tyson Fury face each other on October 28th, in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
