The Swede Alexander Gustafson shocked the MMA world in September last year by providing the toughest fight of the light heavyweight champion's career Jon Jones and punish him as had never happened before. Despite his good performance, “The Mauler”, as he is known, ended up defeated in the judges' decision and retraced his path to the belt again in recent months. With the rematch against Jones already assured and scheduled a priori for UFC 177, on August 30th, Gustafsson guaranteed that he will perform even better in the new title fight.
“I think I'm a much better fighter now compared to when I fought Jones the first time. In all aspects”, said the Swede, in a chat with fans on the social network “reddit”. Gustafsson also commented on the succession of fingers in the eyes involving Jon Jones in the octagon. “I don’t think he pokes people in the eyes on purpose, but once, twice, three times is something he needs to stop doing,” Alexander pondered.
Among other responses not focused on the duel against Jones, Gustafsson confided that his favorite fighter of all time is Fedor Emelianenko, who would like to be played in the cinema by actor Peter Dinklage (the dwarf Tyrion Lannister from the series “Game of Thrones”), who was very impressed with TJ Dillashaw’s victory over Renan Barao and who considers his debut in the Octagon to be the most important moment of his UFC career to date. At 27 years old, Alexander Gustafson has a record of 17 wins and two losses.
