The gaze between Jon Jones e Francis Ngannou last Friday (16) made sports fans regret the non-occurrence of this duel, however, the MMA legend made a point of emphasizing that there is no rivalry between the two fighters. In an interview with 'ESPN', the current heavyweight champion (up to 120,2kg) showed respect for the Cameroonian and emphasized that there is no reason for there to be animosity between them.

“I have met Ngannou before. He's a sweet guy. Outside of fighting, he is very respectful. He can be very respectful too. If we're not fighting, there's no reason to have beef, especially when we see each other in person. It's cool to do trash talk and keep the fans excited and stuff like that, but if there's no contract for the fight, we're brothers at the end of the day. I know I'm badder than him, but I don't have to give him any weird looks or anything. He’s got big muscles, he’s an impressive figure, but when it comes to the fight game, he’s my world and I know who I am,” Jones said.

Ngannou was the UFC heavyweight champion last January, when he was released by the organization after both were unable to reach an agreement on a new contract. In March, Jones took the reigns by submitting the Frenchman Cyryl Gane No. UFC 285, still in the first round.
