In an exclusive interview to SUPER FIGHTS, the former LFA interim flyweight champion, commented on the defeat suffered in her debut; talked about his expectations for the fight against Tereza Bledá; analyzed the consequences of the move from Brazil to the United States and was willing to give rematches to the current UFC promise.

“I was treating a hand injury, at the time I was a little heavier, I wasn't training as much, but I accepted the fight (at the last minute) and it didn't work out. I felt a little bit about my debut, I think everyone goes through that and I let that feeling take over me when I started the fight. During the week I gained weight well, I gave interviews well, I was in great shape. I think it was a psychological issue,” said Gabriella.

Learning from defeat

“I had already been defeated at the beginning of my career and I learned a lot from that, so much so that I arrived in the UFC. I started fighting a lot, trying to improve my performances, I started to study my opponents more, the girls in my category who would possibly fight with me and I arrived in the UFC”

“I was very comfortable in my city. I'm from Rio, but I live in Natal. Five years ago I already had plans to move to the United States, live solely on the fight, focus on the fight and I was putting that aside because I was comfortable. After the last defeat I realized that I needed to change that too. I moved to Miami more than two months ago and tried to train with athletes who have the same goal as me.”

Victory over Iasmin Lucindo

“If she wants to fight me, I don’t see any problem. I fought her on my debut and she had already had four fights, if I'm not mistaken. I managed to knock her out in the first round (…) we don't have a rivalry, on the contrary, we follow each other on Instagram. When she fought outside Brazil, she spoke to me, congratulated me. If we have to fight again, I'll fight. I don’t like enmity”

Strategy against Tereza Bledá

“I will be patient. I have three rounds, so there's no point in trying to land a clean blow or something like that. I'm going to have to feel the fight, hurting myself little by little and defending myself. She will want to do the same thing (as Jasmine Jasudavicius), change and throw myself against the fence, take my back... so I'm going to be patient now. I will have 15 minutes to hurt her,” she concluded.
