About to face the dangerous Daniel Cormier at UFC 173, this Saturday (24), Dan Henderson used a bold strategy to destabilize his opponent. The veteran remembered that his rival is a fan of fried chicken and presented him with two large portions of the dish – just a few days before the official weigh-in.
The episode was shown on vlog UFC official. Henderson ordered the food over the phone, detailing that he wanted two portions of 24 pieces each – “the bigger the better,” he said. He justified the idea: “Cormier talked all day that he loves fried chicken and that he couldn't wait to eat it after the fight. So I want to help your weight cutting a little by giving you fried chicken,” he explained.
A few minutes later, Hendo went to hand deliver the request made to his next opponent. Cormier got in on the fun and dismissed the veteran’s “generosity.” “Get it out of here, man. I don’t need that,” he said, at first.
Then, to your training partner, Cain Velazquez, Cormier commented: “Henderson just brought me some fried chicken and left it on the side of the mat. He said it was something to help me lose weight. What a son of a b***h,” he said, laughing.
The official weigh-in for UFC 173 will be this Friday (23), at 19:45 pm Brasília time. Both Henderson and Cormier, a former heavyweight, must be below the light heavyweight category limit, 93 kg.
