O assault suffered by Mauritius Shogun in Rio de Janeiro (RJ) a few weeks ago, it generated repercussions among other MMA fighters. The controversial Nick Diaz, former Strikeforce champion and former challenger for the UFC welterweight belt, took advantage of the incident to reveal that he would be afraid if he needed to travel to Brazil.
At the end of April, Shogun was approached by heavily armed men on the Red Line, who took the fighter's belongings and even his clothes. Shirtless and barefoot, Shogun had to walk a few kilometers to find the nearest police station.
In an interview with the YouTube channel “PopCandiesTV”, Diaz showed his impressions of the country. “There is f…, they put a gun to your forehead and rob you. I wouldn’t go to Mexico, I wouldn’t go to Brazil… I hear a lot of stories,” she commented.
Diaz also stated that, if what happened to Shogun happened to him, he would act differently. “If it were here, they would have to shoot me [laughs]. I would say they need to shoot me or slap me to make me take off my clothes,” he said.
