Victim of the lethal power of Conor McGregor, Eddie Alvarez has the right to talk about the risk of keeping the fight standing against the Irishman. Keeping an eye on the confrontation between 'The Notorious' x Michael chandler, the former UFC fighter revealed what he would do if he were the veteran's coach. In an interview with ESPN, the fighter suggested that 'Iron' make the most of his 'grappling' at the start of combat.

“Mike Chandler is a hell of an athlete, I just think stylistically the way he's been fighting and the strategy he's doing is not the way to do it against Conor McGregor. I would beg him if I were his coach to change his style, to just grab his legs, to go for the takedowns and force Conor to fight early. You have to force him to fight early so he doesn't have the powerful tools that he's able to take advantage of on all these other guys... Fight early enough and you tire his shoulders, tire his legs and slow him down. So he’s half the striker he can be when he’s fully powered up,” Eddie said.

In addition to advising his compatriot to use grappling, Alvarez asked Chandler to avoid going into the Octagon to put on a show.

“The problem with Mike Chandler that I'm seeing is that he's trying to please the fans too much. That doesn't always win you a world title. Pleasing the fans is great, it will make millions of dollars, it will do all that. But getting to the gold and keeping the gold is kind of a selfish thing and maybe he needs to be a little more selfish in his game by planning to win the fight instead of exciting the crowd,” concluded the former UFC welterweight champion.
