Vitor belfort is authorized to fight in Brazil immediately. This is what the medical director of the Brazilian MMA Athletic Commission, Márcio Tannure, guarantees, who stated that the fighter could schedule a fight in the country as soon as he wishes.

Coming from three consecutive victories in Brazil, Belfort was selected to face Chris Weidman for the middleweight belt in May. However, the Brazilian had to leave the fight after the ban on testosterone replacement therapy (TRT). Belfort does not yet have a license to fight in Las Vegas (United States), but, in Brazil, his return would not be prevented by medical reasons.

“Nowadays I’m no longer Vitor’s doctor. After I took over at the Athletic Commission, I had to give up on this so as not to have any conflict of interest. Honestly, I don't know how Vitor is physically today and I don't know what his process is like at the Nevada Athletic Commission to obtain his license. But here, he would have no problem. He already has the license to fight here in Brazil and could fight in Brazil without doing the TRT”, explained Tannure, in an interview with the website “Portal do Vale Tudo”.

“If he came to fight in Brazil, since he no longer takes TRT, he would be tested like a normal athlete, he would do anti-doping normally, even though he knew that anything that appeared in this test would be considered doping”, continued the doctor. .

Belfort was replaced by Lyoto Machida in the fight for the belt, although the fight was postponed until July due to an injury to the champion. So far, Belfort has no scheduled date for returning to the UFC.
