With only four appearances in Ultimate, Jailton Malhadinho prepares to star in the event's first main fight. Escalated to face Jairzinho Rozenstruik, the Bahian spoke exclusively to SUPER FIGHTS, about the feeling of being the main attraction of UFC Charlotte, analyzed the confrontation against his rival and showed confidence on the eve of the duel, which takes place this Saturday (13).
“I was very surprised. In fact, I thought I wasn't even going to do the penultimate fight of the night. I didn't even think about it. But let's do the work (…) I always say that it's all in God's time. Things happen in His time and I wasn't in a rush for anything, it happened naturally. I was very happy when I saw the poster, it was a dream to have one like this in the UFC, to mark the long story of my life. I’m going to show my son that I participated in the biggest event in the world”, said Malhadinho.

Preparation for five rounds
“I just increased the rounds a little. I was sparing with just one person. I'm doing five rounds really well. In the first week I felt a little, but then it just took off. The guy who trains with me couldn't do the five rounds because he puts in more training, right? When I do five rounds with anyone there, I don't feel anything. Thank God I didn't have anything, not even an injury. I’m 100% ready to get there and show my work”, continued the Bahian.
Jairzinho's analysis
“Jairzinho is an extremely dangerous guy, an experienced guy, it's no wonder he's number nine in the rankings. He's already fought a lot of guys, world champions and he's willing to win the belt too. He has very dangerous striking. But I'm going to get my usual game, my flagship is its weak point. I’m going to look for efficiency, put it on the ground and catch it”, predicted Jailton.

Adjustments at fight time
“I am prepared. I did a lot of boxing for this fight, as I did for my last opponent too. If he can defend his takedowns well, I already have a second plan. I'm a guy who moves very well, an athletic heavyweight and he's a guy who doesn't move, he stays still. So I'm going to keep moving from one side to the other until I find a gap and manage to impose the game”, revealed the Brazilian.
Ideal scenario
“The beginning of the fight will be a lot of study. He's not going to come in, march in. I don't think he enters a fight like that, waiting for the guy to act. I'm very prepared to do five rounds, if I'm going to be quick it will be and if I'm going to fight all the rounds too. If he blinks I will only stop when the referee says 'stop' and I go out celebrating”, concluded the fighter.
Protagonists of UFC Charlotte, the fighters will face each other this Saturday (13), in an event that starts at 12 pm (Brasília time). With his eye on the belt, Malhadinho is looking for his fifth consecutive victory in the organization. Since he was hired, the fighter has won everything on the fast track.
