Another chapter in the controversy between Anderson Silva e Wanderlei Silva was written this Friday. Wand, who is scheduled to face Rich Franklin in the main fight of UFC-99, fired a shot at his former teammate, in an interview with the American website MMA Weekly. The disagreement began when Anderson stated that a fight against Wanderlei would be 'funny' and Wand wouldn't be able to hit him.
“I always respected him. I didn't talk about him before he talked about me. Why? Because I was a great friend of his”, said Mad Dog, who added:
“I don’t know why he started talking about me. I wouldn't want to fight at middleweight, but once he started, you couldn't afford to stop me. I love the challenge. I love it when guys talk about me, it gives me even more motivation to train. Now I want to fight him, I want to have the chance to face him, but first I need to focus on Rich (Franklin), and I know I need to beat him and perform well to have a chance to fight the champion”, said Wandelrei which completed:
“I don’t just fight with my technique. I fight with my heart. I respect my fans and that’s why they respect me,” she concluded.
