Glover Teixeira doesn't know what it's like to lose a professional MMA fight for over nine years. In a normal situation, the Brazilian would be considered a favorite against any opponent. But this Saturday (26), in Baltimore (USA), Glover will not be face to face with just any opponent, he will try to dethrone the North American Jon Jones, the youngest fighter to win an Ultimate belt and who has held hegemony in the light heavyweight category in recent years.

Therefore, the Brazilian is considered the underdog in the main betting houses in the United States. On average, Glover pays the equivalent of US$4 (approximately R$9) for every dollar bet on his victory. On the other hand, a triumph of Jon Jones pays $0,20 (less than 50 cents) for every dollar invested. Such expectations are mainly based on the champion's record, who has a record of 19 victories and only one questionable loss by disqualification and has beaten great opponents in a convincing manner.

On the other side of the corner, Glover Teixeira seeks to bring back to Brazil the UFC light heavyweight belt, which was previously held by his compatriots Vitor belfort, Mauritius Shogun e Lyoto Machida. Coincidentally, Jones has already beaten the division's three former Brazilian champions in title fights. To achieve this, the Sobrália miner bets mainly on the power of his strikes and his solid base in the wrestling. If betting experts point to the champion as the favorite, Glover has a strong opinion in his favor: that of the member of the Hall of Fame Chuck Lidell. A friend and former training partner of the Brazilian, Lidell stated that Jon Jones will not go beyond the third round against Teixeira.

The co-main fight of the night in Baltimore Arena marks his return to the UFC Anthony Johnson, promising fighter from blackzilians who had left the organization after losing weight several times. After working as a welterweight, but without success in the weight cut, Johnson returns to the Octagon as a light heavyweight with an undefeated record of six wins in his recent time away from Ultimate. “Rumble”, as he is known”, faces the dangerous Phil Davis, who has been getting closer and closer to a title fight and during the official UFC 172 events this week tried to ensure his prominence through controversial statements and public challenges to Jon Jones.

Furthermore, Brazil is also present in the octagon on the preliminary card. Brazilian Bethe “Pitbull” Correia takes on TUF 17 participant Jessamin Duke in the only female fight of the night. Bethe, who is an athlete at the “Pitbull Brothers” gym, is having her second fight in Ultimate. In her debut, the native of Rio Grande do Norte, who has a perfect record of seven victories, beat the North American Julie Kedzie.
