In his statements after the fracture suffered in the rematch against Chris Weidman, the brazilian Anderson Silva made it clear that he no longer wants to fight for a UFC belt. Furthermore, Anderson and his manager Jorge Guimarães stated that the chances of a brief return to the octagons are slim, and that plans have been made with 2015 in mind. But none of this seems to dissuade president Dana White, who stated that he dreams of seeing the Spider back against his tormentor in a title fight and also said that he received information from the former champion himself that he will fight again at the end of this year or beginning of next.

“I talked to Anderson Silva and he wants to return between the end of the year and the beginning of 2015. It depends on how he recovers, but the last time I saw him was incredible. He is training in an unbelievable way. Anderson is Wolverine (character from X-men which has the power to regenerate itself). He will definitely come back. The scenarios change completely every three months and we have to see who will be available and if it makes sense. But he wants to go back. In my dream scenario, he would come back to fight for the belt against Chris Weidman. But that won't happen. That would be the dream. In reality, we're going to have to find someone to fight him”, said the director during a conversation with the press after the UFC 172 press conference in Baltimore (USA).

The director also commented on the recovery of Chris Weidman, who underwent surgery on his knees and already has a fight scheduled against Lyoto Machida at UFC 175 in July. According to Dana, Weidman will be ready in time for the title fight and will reinforce the Ultimate team, which should have all injured stars back by the end of the year. “Chris is recovering well, everything is according to plan, and he will be at UFC 175. At the end of the summer (in the last quarter), practically all of our stars will fight again. Anthony Pettis, Anderson at the end of the year, Cain Velásquez will probably return as well, and Vitor belfort, if he solves his problems, he will soon return to fight in Las Vegas”, he concluded.
