Imprisoned in the United States since 2011 for attempted abuse against a minor, former UFC fighter Hermes França was deported to Brazil by order of the North American justice system after serving a 42-month sentence. Hermes was released from detention in Customs and Immigration custody and taken to the airport by a federal official. The information was released by the television channel “FOX 12”.
Hermes, now 39 years old, was arrested in 2011 on charges of attempted sexual abuse against a minor at his jiu-jitsu academy in the city of Clackamas, in the state of Oregon. A year after his arrest, França made a plea deal in which he admitted he was guilty in the case.
In professional MMA, Hermes França has a record of 22 wins, 12 losses and one I didn't answer (fight without result). The Ceará native had stints in Ultimate between 2003 and 2008 and was the only Brazilian athlete to date to compete for the lightweight category belt (up to 70 kg) in the organization. In 2007, at UFC 73, França faced and ended up defeated by then champion Sean Sherk, in a unanimous decision by the judges. The title fight had a curious fact: after it took place, both fighters ended up caught in an anti-doping test.
