Next Saturday (26), the North American Jon Jones is looking for the seventh defense of his belt, against the Brazilian Glover Teixeira, in the main fight of UFC 172. When you step into the octagon mounted on Baltimore ArenaHowever, Jones should no longer be seen as a “superhuman” as he previously was. Much of this reality shock is due to his last fight, against Alexander Gustafson.

On September 21, 2013, at UFC 165, Jones was the favorite to quickly finish off the Swede Alexander Gustafson. But what was seen was a completely different scenario. Gustafsson imposed the greatest punishment of the champion's life in the octagon, became the first athlete to manage to take him down and came very close to dethroning “Bones”. However, the North American showed strength in the face of adversity and, despite facing a worthy opponent, managed to emerge victorious, by unanimous decision of the judges. The historic fight was voted fight of the year in 2013 at the “World MMA Awards”, considered the “Oscar of MMA”.
