UFC Ranking: Werdum passes Cigano and becomes first among heavyweights

Defeated at UFC on FOX 11, Edson Barboza and Rafael dos Anjos dropped back to lightweight

Confirmed as the next challenger for the heavyweight belt after his victory over Travis Browne at UFC on FOX 11, Fabricio Werdum also moved up one position in the division ranking with the triumph last Saturday (19) in Orlando (USA). With this, the Brazilian surpassed his compatriot Junior Gypsy and came to occupy first place in the category up to 120 kg, behind only the champion Cain Velazquez.

The heavyweight was not the only Brazilian to improve his ranking in the most recent update to the list, released this Monday (21). Even without fighting, Raphael Assunção e Vitor belfort they rose from third to second place in the bantamweight and middleweight categories, respectively. In addition to the duo, another athlete who was not in action, Wilson reis, also moved up one place and is now 14th in the bantamweight category. At welterweight, Demian Maia benefited from the fall of Tarec saffiedine and now it's the eighth.

On the other hand, two Brazilians defeated at UFC on FOX 11 ended up falling in the lightweight rankings. Defeated by Russian Khabib Nurmagomedov on the preliminary card, Rafael dos Anjos he fell three positions and is now eighth. In turn, Nurmagomedov moved up to fifth place. Surprised by Donald Cerrone when finished in the first round, Edson Barboza had his dream of entering the top-10 frustrated and ended up falling back to 13th place.
