Frankie Edgar is willing to resume his path towards a new opportunity to fight for the UFC belt. The 32-year-old former lightweight champion wants another chance to fight for the title in the featherweight division, a division in which he has been active since last year.

But first, Edgar will need to complete the third chapter of his rivalry with B.J. Penn. The two have already faced each other on two occasions, in 2010, with the lightweight title at stake. Edgar won in both, according to the judges' decision.

This time, the fight will be in the lower category and will mark the meeting of the coaches of the 20th season of the reality show The Ultimate Fighter. Edgar stated, in an interview with the North American magazine “Sports Illustrated”, that the chance to lead TUF was what caught his attention the most. “[What attracted me] was the opportunity to train the The Ultimate Fighter, which would be another step in my career, so that one day I can look back and be happy that I did it. To do that, I would have to train alongside BJ and face him again. A fight is a fight, he is a very dangerous opponent and I will prepare as I always do. I’m ready,” he stated.

“I want to get there, finish this trilogy with BJ and work my way towards the title. If I get an immediate chance [to fight for the title], I would certainly jump at the opportunity, and if I have to fight more often, so be it. But the title is definitely my goal”, continued Edgar, who challenged for the featherweight belt in 2013, but was defeated by José Aldo.
