In Brazil, Anthony Pettis receives a purple belt in jiu-jitsu

Lightweight champion was graduated by master Diego Moraes, in Rio de Janeiro

Almost honorary citizen, Anthony Pettis is once again in Brazil. This time, in addition to enjoying Rio de Janeiro, the lightweight champion took the opportunity to receive his purple belt in jiu-jitsu. This Thursday (03), through your profile on Instagram, Brazilian Diego Moraes, leader of Team Moraes, published an image of his renowned pupil's graduation.

“Graduating my student Anthony Pettis the purple belt in jiu-jitsu. Thank you for your affection and trust. We’re going with everything we can to TUF, the UFC’s reality show”, wrote Diego on the social network. The coach was confirmed on Pettis' team on the reality show The Ultimate Fighter 20, which the champion leads together with rival and challenger Gilbert Melendez. The program will air in the second semester.

At 27, Anthony Pettis has a record of 17 wins and two losses. The former WEC champion debuted in Ultimate with a defeat to Clay guida and delayed his plans for the belt of the main MMA organization on the planet. However, Pettis recovered and after winning three consecutive fights, he returned to face Ben henderson, his opponent in winning the WEC title. Fighting at home, “Showtime” submitted his rival and became the new UFC lightweight champion. Now, recovering from surgery, Pettis will train in TUF 20 alongside Gilbert Melendez and defend his title for the first time against his rival after the reality show.
