Although Dana White confirmed Colby covington as the next challenger for the Leon edwards, who defended the welterweight title against Kamaru Usman in the main fight of UFC 286, last Saturday (28), the champion seems to have other plans.

In a press conference held shortly after the event, Edwards reaffirmed his lack of interest in having Colby covington as his next opponent for the belt.

PUBLICITY:

“In terms of pay-per-view, this fight (against Colby covington) is the fight to make, but I don't understand how he stays out for a year, without being injured, and wins a title fight when I had to win 12 fights to get here. When I was trying to win the title fight he said he didn't know who I was and now I'm the king. They say he can jump the queue, but I'm the king, I decide who's next”, said the champion.

Edwards, who has in Jorge masvidal a declared dislike, opened the doors to face the North American if he overcomes the Brazilian Gilbert Durinho No. UFC 287, an event that takes place on April 8, in Miami, in the United States.

PUBLICITY:

“Yes (it makes sense). I don't like him (Masvidal), so I feel like there's a story to be told. If he can do his job, I'll consider it. If he begs me”, concluded the champion.
