Merab Dvalishvili breaks curious record in dominant performance over Petr Yan at UFC Las Vegas

Georgiano surpasses Cain Velasquez's mark and takes the lead in the Ultimate performance list

With a dominant and undisputed performance against the former UFC bantamweight champion (up to 61,2kg), Petr yan, Merab Dvalishvili broke a curious record in the organization. Protagonist of UFC Las Vegas, held last Saturday (11), the Georgian surpassed the mark of Cain Velazquez and took the top spot on the list of most takedown attempts in a match in the company. The information was released by the profile 'FatosDaLuta MMA & UFC'.

Implacable in front of Yan, Dvalishvili was not intimidated and exposed all his grapple during 25 minutes of confrontation. In total, there were 49 attempts to take the Russian to the canvas, a fact that helped determine the outcome in the unanimous decision.

Former leader of the list, Cain Velazquez totaled 33 attacks. The number was recorded in the athlete's confrontation against the Brazilian junior gypsy.

No UFC Las Vegas, Merab stepped into the octagon for one of his biggest UFC commitments to date. Last executioner in his career José Aldo, the Georgian didn't give the Russian a chance and, after winning, he got closer to a future title fight.
