Days after the historic conquest in UFC 285, Alexa grasso does not hide the joy for the achievement in front of the legendary Valentina Shevchenko. In an exclusive interview with SUPER FIGHTS, the new flyweight champion (up to 56,7kg.) spoke excitedly about the achievement and guaranteed a new clash with her rival. The athlete set the date for the immediate rematch.
“I'm very happy, because we trained a lot for this. You don't know how many hours we trained. I had moments of frustration. I wanted to make everything perfect. It’s very important for us, for Mexico. Being a champion is a beautiful thing,” said Grasso.
Willing to confirm the legitimacy of her title, Alexa makes no secret of the fact that she intends to give Shevchenko an immediate rematch. Even without setting the date, the fighter assured that the fight should take place in 2023.
“Now, I need some time, to rest. There are only three days (of victory). I want to sunbathe, swim a little. Clearly, this year I’m going to do this fight again”, she said.
No UFC 285, Grasso overcame adversity and silenced critics by overcoming one of the greatest representatives of female MMA of all time. After going through difficult moments in the fight, the Mexican took advantage of an opponent's mistake and submitted her with a rear naked choke in the fourth round.
