Pepey, Formiga and Marreta are the highlights of the UFC Natal preliminary card

Good fights, knockouts, submissions and surprises marked the opening program of UFC Fight Night 38

With good fights, knockouts, submissions and surprises, the preliminary card of UFC Fight Night 38 presented the audience who arrived early at the Nelio Dias gym, in Natal, Rio Grande do Norte. Among the highlights of the night are the beautiful knockout of Geoffrey Pepey about Noad Lahat, the completion of Jussier formiga about Scott Jorgensen and the surprise of Thiago Marreta about Ronny Markes.

In the last fight of the preliminary card, the zebra walked free. Ronny Markes, who had difficulties at the weigh-in on Saturday, entered the octagon as the show's biggest favorite against his compatriot Thiago Marreta. But in his first movements, the Rio athlete landed a kick on the Rio de Janeiro native's waistline, which he felt and fell to the ground.

Marreta quickly went up and with a few more punches he achieved a technical knockout.

Formiga recovers and wins

Jussier formiga arrived in the UFC as one of the biggest flyweights in the world. But with two defeats in three fights, the Brazilian needed victory. Against Scott Jorgensen the battle was even, but an unexpected movement led the Brazilian to victory.

Jorgensen closed the distance, but when they exchanged blows, the fighters ended up bumping heads. The North American felt it and went to the ground.

Without wasting time, Formiga went up, reached his back and applied the choke.

Brazilians lose two in a row

The Brazilian fighters suffered two defeats in the show's opening program. Francimar Bodão  fought an even fight against Hans Stringer. After losing the first round, where he was on the bottom for most of the time, the Acre native recovered in the second round. However, already tired, he was unable to maintain the pace in the last round and was defeated in the judges' split decision.

Yes, Thiago Bodão suffered his second consecutive setback in the UFC. Right at the beginning of the fight, the Brazilian was surprised by a high kick from Kenny Robertson. The São Paulo native still managed to take the fight to the ground, but ended up sweeping, giving up mount, his back and ended up submitting with a rear-naked choke.

Pepey handsome knockout

In the first fight of the night Geoffrey Pepey showed the evolution of his fighting on the feet. Facing the Israeli Noad Lahat, the TUF Brasil 1 finalist worked on his striking against his rival. In a great moment, he managed to land a flying knee to the chin of his rival who fell to the ground. Without wasting time, the Ceará native landed a few more punches on the ground to achieve victory by knockout.
