Diego Brandão's opponent is fired and fight at UFC Natal is canceled

UFC discovered that American Will Chope attacked his wife and threatened her with a knife in 2009

In the early hours of this Sunday (23), Will Chope was removed from the fight in front of Diego Brandao and fired from the event. The Ultimate organization discovered overnight that the American fighter was expelled from the United States Air Force for attacking his wife and threatening her with a knife in November 2009.

According to the US Air Force's conviction, Chope received a sentence of five months of confinement and was dismissed from the unit. The fighter appealed the decision, but was denied in 2011.

“My fight was canceled because of a mistake I made five years ago. I sincerely apologize to the fans and will do everything I can to do right. I spoke to my ex-wife on the phone, and she supports me in what I'm doing. Together we will make a press release as soon as I return to the US on Wednesday,” said Chope, on his Facebook page.

This is not the first time that the UFC has taken action against the behavior of its fighters. Miguel Torres was fired from the show after making homophonic jokes on Twitter, while Brazilians Maiquel Falcao e Thiago Silva they were dismissed for fighting in a nightclub and threatening his ex-wife, respectively.
