According to information from the television program “UFC Tonight”, on the North American broadcaster FOX Sports, Rich Franklin refused a fight against Rogério Minotouro for the month of May, at UFC Fight Night 40.

The former middleweight champion has been away from fighting since November 2012, when he was knocked out by Cung le on UFC's first visit to Macau. Even though he is not yet officially retired, Franklin, 39, is not often mentioned in the news regarding possible future fights.

Minotouro and Franklin already had a fight scheduled in 2011, but the fight was canceled after the Brazilian suffered an injury in training.

UFC Fight Night 40 will be held in Franklin's hometown of Cincinnati, Ohio, where he previously played for the UFC. In October 2007, the North American was knocked out for the second time by Anderson Silva when he was trying to regain the middleweight belt, which he had lost a year earlier.
