For the first time in history, the UFC will promote two events on consecutive days in the same place. The organization confirmed that the The Ultimate Fighter 19 Finale, an event that hosts the finals of the reality show, will take place on July 6th, at Mandalay Bay, in Las Vegas (USA). A day earlier in the same place, UFC 175 will be held – an event in pay-per-view which has not yet had official fights. The two shows close the UFC Fight Week, the organization's most important week of promotional events.
Along with the announcement of the TUF 19 Finale, Ultimate confirmed that the event will host the duel of the edition's coaches: Frankie Edgar and BJ Penn. This will be the third time that the athletes will face each other in the octagon. The previous two, both for the lightweight belt in 2010, were won by Edgar. This time, however, the duel will be valid in the featherweight category, with a weight limit of up to 66 kg.
In December of last year, Frankie Edgar and BJ Penn have been confirmed as the coaches for the 19th North American season of the reality show The Ultimate Fighter. The announcement took fans by surprise, as Penn had been out of action since his loss to Rory McDonald in December 2012. The season, which will feature athletes from the middleweight and light heavyweight categories, is scheduled to debut in the month of April in the United States.
