The return of Hendricks still with his beard was a source of surprise for many who followed the new attempt by the number one in the welterweight category.
Now it has been confirmed that the main fight of UFC 171, which takes place this Saturday (15) in Dallas (USA), will indeed be valid for the welterweight belt – and for both athletes, as it had been announced that Lawler would fight for the title even if Hendricks didn't make weight. In addition to Johnny, Reneé Forte e Kelvin Gastelum They also tried to cut excess weight in new opportunities, but ended up giving up and will be penalized with losses in their purses.
Shortly after Hendricks triumphed on the scales in his second attempt, the Ultimate organization released a short video showing the public's reaction to seeing the fighter make weight. One of the most excited was Nick Diaz. The former title challenger shouted words of encouragement and celebrated Johny's success.
