St. Pierre talks about accepting UFC 79 fight at short notice

Many people have questioned how long it would take to Georges St Pierre train before facing Matt hugs at UFC 79 for the welterweight belt. About this he said the following:

“Honestly, I'll tell you the truth, I already imagined that Serra or Hughes would probably get hurt before the fight. So I was keeping myself in shape in case that actually happened. Normally I'm always in shape, in fact, I'm always training, this is my job so I always need to stay in good shape. So when I heard that Matt Serra had gotten hurt I called my agent right away.

Training camps usually last about two months, but I've been preparing for more than two or three weeks. I've been training since the summer (not the Brazilian summer because it's different :D) so I couldn't be in better shape than I am now. A lot of new guys are coming from abroad to train plus those I already have so everything is great.

PUBLICITY:

I have Denis Kang, Nathan Marquardt, Keith Jardine, Rashad evans, my coach and Greg Jackson, Phil Nurse are also coming. In Montreal I have Patrick Cote and David Loiseau. I'm training with all the best guys. I couldn't be surrounded by better people than I am right now. So I will be very well prepared, in fact I am ALREADY very well prepared for the fight. Now I'm just getting better and better and better," the former champion said on his website
