Former challenger for the welterweight belt (up to 77kg.), Gilbert Durinho recalled the defeat suffered by Kamaru Usman No. UFC 258, in February 2021. The Brazilian, in an interview with the podcast 'Nem Me Viu', by Fabricio Werdum, admits that he lost focus before the fight and confesses to being sad when he remembers the moments leading up to the title fight.
“There were several sponsorships. 'Hey, make a post here'. It really came to me that I still had a scarcity that I thought I had to make the most of. (…) I was totally scattered. I came into a much greater level of focus in the last fight (against Neil Magny) than in the belt. You can see my different look, the coldness. And it was right in the title fight. Who****. It’s a sinister ‘depression’”, recalled Durinho.
