Tyron woodley is eyeing an opportunity to fight for the UFC welterweight belt. Coming off an impressive knockout victory against Josh koscheck, the North American will face Carlos Condit at UFC 171, which will be held on March 15th. If he wins, he believes he will deserve the opportunity to challenge the new champion, who will be defined at the same event in the fight between John hendricks e Robbie Lawler.

Precisely for this reason, Woodley did not like seeing other fighters in the category asking for an opportunity to fight for the title. Rory McDonald asked for the opportunity after winning Demian Maia at UFC 170, while Nick Diaz stated that he will only return to Ultimate if it is a title fight.

At a press conference, Woodley stated that neither fighter deserves an opportunity right away. “Rory McDonald I should go cut another avocado, because I don't think he deserves to fight for the title”, joked the fighter, referring to the episode in which the Canadian almost was left out of the fight against Demian because he suffered a cut while slicing the fruit.

“He didn’t want to face the champion when he had the chance. He was one of the highest ranked and refused to fight for the title. Now that GSP has hung up his gloves, he wants to jump the queue after winning Demian Maia? I don’t think that’s right,” she assessed.

“The same can be said about Diaz. He hasn't won a fight since 2011 – he lost to Carlos Condit, lost to GSP, and has never beaten a wrestler in his life. So he thinks he will come out of retirement when he feels like it and jump the queue? I think they [MacDonald and Diaz] are sharing the same bag of herbs”, criticized Woodley.
