Erick Silva faces Matt Brown in the main fight of UFC Fight Night in Cincinnati

In May, Brazilian fighter will try for a second consecutive victory against the seventh-placed welterweight

The UFC announced, this Monday (3), the fight between Erick silva and Matt Brown for May 10th, in the city of Cincinnati, in the US state of Ohio. The fight will be the main attraction of the event, which, despite not having its official name, will be a Fight Night.

A UFC veteran, Brown will return to action after a long period away due to a back injury. Before getting injured, the 33-year-old American was on a great run, winning six consecutive victories, four of which were by knockout or technical knockout. His last setback was in 2011, when he was submitted by Seth Baczynski at UFC 139. Despite his long period of inactivity, he is ranked seventh in the official UFC rankings.

Yes, Erick silva will have the biggest fight of his career so far, seeking to establish himself among the main athletes in the welterweight category (77 kg). Since joining the UFC in 2011, the native of Espírito Santo has been alternating victories and defeats. After being knocked out by Dong Hyun Kim in Barueri, Silva scored a quick victory over Takenori Sato in Jaraguá do Sul in February. This will be his second fight outside Brazil, having submitted Charlie Brenneman in 2012 in Ft. Lauderdale, in the North American state of Florida.
