Tour in Rio de Janeiro. Tupiniquim highlight in UFC 283, held this Saturday (21), in Brazil, Gilbert Durinho made the commitment against Neil Magny seem easy. Inserted on the main card, the Niteroi native had a dominant performance and prevailed against his rival. With his classic jiu-jitsu, the welterweight (up to 77,1kg) achieved victory in the first round.

This weekend, Durinho returned to the octagon almost a year after his defeat in the battle against Khamzat Shimaev. In addition to winning and exciting the fans, the athlete defended fifth place in the group.

The pivot of the challenge to Gilbert, Magny momentarily moved away from occupying a position in the top 10. Today, the athlete occupies 12th place in the ranking.

In an interview still in the octagon, the Niteroi native proposed his next commitment. In a loud and clear tone, the athlete asked for a fight against Colby covington, former interim champion of the group.

The fight

The confrontation began with Magny taking the initiative with a low kick, followed by another round. Durinho saved his attacks and looked for the best distance to attack. With a kick to the waistline, the Brazilian tried to scare his opponent. With almost two minutes played, Gilbert shortened and took down his opponent with ease. On top, the Niteroi native was looking for transitions. Durinho showed calm and dominated the confrontation. The advantage remained with the Tupiniquim, while Magny defended his rival's transition attempts. Almost in the final minute, the Brazilian got the mount and started attacking with ground and pound. Afterwards, the fighter used the katagatame and forced his opponent to tap out.
