Close to a title fight, Glover gets excited by the Brazilian fans and explains his strategy to beat Hill

Protagonist at UFC Rio, which takes place this Saturday (21), Glover Teixeira is one step away from expanding his legacy in the Desafiante organization, along with Jamahal hill, to the vacant light heavyweight belt (up to 93kg.), the athlete spoke exclusively to SUPER FIGHTS about expectations for the confrontation. The athlete did not hide his excitement about returning to perform in Brazil and explained his strategy for the fight.

“I have fans all over the world, but the biggest base is Brazilians. I fought several times in Rio de Janeiro, I lived in Rio. A lot of people will be there (in the arena). The energy is very top. From Wednesday (18th), I don't even go down much in the (hotel) lobby, because it's tiring. We're losing weight and we're a little weak, but it's a really cool energy, these Brazilian guys. Always cheering,” Glover said.

Willing to retake the light heavyweight belt, lost in June 2022, in the defeat to Jiri Prochazka, Teixeira will once again face an opponent known for his aggressiveness. Before Jamahal hill, the Minas Gerais native explained his plan to leave the octagon with the category title.

“For sure, he (Hill) will want to stay on his feet. I put the whole fight down, because, above all, I know my potential. I'm pressure, with ground and pound and one of the best in the UFC. (…) I consider my jiu-jitsu and striking better than the guys. Sometimes, there's a guy who's really good at wrestling, but he doesn't have such good striking. I have a lot of knockouts in the UFC,” he concluded.

If he surpasses Jamahal in the UFC, Glover will be the organization's oldest active champion. In October, the miner turned 43 years old.
