“Our top priority has always been nurturing talent from the ground up, and with AJ I can proudly say we have witnessed this young man transform into a bona fide superstar inside the BELLATOR cage. It is also our priority to retain top talent, and with AJ entering the prime of his career, it was important to ensure that he continues to represent the BELLATOR brand, just as he recently did in Japan, for the foreseeable future. I look forward to AJ’s next challenge, an appearance at our 2023 Lightweight World Grand Prix, which features the best 70,3-pound fighters in the world.”
With just one fight remaining on his previous contract, A. J. McKee was constantly linked to a possible transfer to the UFC.
The American has been a Bellator athlete since his first professional fight, in 2015, and has built a record of 20 wins and just one loss in the organization.
