J.dos Santos (photo) joins the Nova União team
The Brazilian junior gypsy He has a new house. The heavyweight announced, in a press conference this Thursday (20), that he will join the Nova União team. Alongside the champions José Aldo e Renan Barao, the former owner of the heavyweight title informed the press that he will prepare for the team led by Dedé Pederneiras. Cigano had already trained with the team, during Aldo and Barão's preparation for UFC 169, and has now made the change official.
Known for having several underweight athletes, Cigano revealed that this will not be a problem for him. The heavyweight guarantees that he will still attend the brothers' Team Nogueira Rodrigo Minotauro e Rogério Minotouro.
“Actually there are a lot of light weights here at the gym, the little ones, as we say, but there has been no lack of training. There are heavy guys too, like Ronny Markes, Bodão and many others who are also coming to help me. In my camp there will definitely be other heavyweights to help me. Team Nogueira is also on my side and, whenever I need it, I have Minotauro, Minotouro, Erivan Conceição himself (coach), who has always helped me a lot in boxing and is in Rio”, said Júnior in an interview with the Sportv News program.
The former heavyweight champion also revealed his permanent move from Salvador to Rio de Janeiro. According to him, the city offers more training opportunities. “I think things happen more here in Rio, everything is easier and that's what I'm looking for. Learn more and feel more comfortable in my training to compete better,” he added.
