Sara McMann This Saturday (22), he will have the most important fight of his short MMA career. The fighter will fight for the UFC belt against Ronda Rousey, making the main fight of the 170th event. This scenario does not leave the challenger scared, as she has other large competitions on her resume.
McMann has achieved three podiums at world wrestling championships, with silver in New York (2003) and bronzes in Budapest (2005) and Baku (2007). Furthermore, she won the silver medal at the Athens Olympics (2004) and gold at the Pan American Games in Santo Domingo (2003) and Rio de Janeiro (2007).
Such performances convinced McMann that, in high-pressure situations, she performs at her best. “I don't know if my Olympic success necessarily made me successful in MMA. I think you can take examples of Olympic medalists who were not successful in another sport. So, I think part of this comes from each individual”, commented the fighter, in an interview with the North American website “MMA Weekly”. “When I competed in my first world championship or the Olympics, I had never done that before. So, this showed me that I am trained in high pressure situations. When the pressure comes, I do my best.”
In seven professional MMA fights, McMann won seven victories, only three of which came by judges' decision. Her next opponent, Rousey, is also undefeated: she has seven wins, all by submission.
