Any suspicion about the chances of Anderson Silva return to the octagon after the fracture suffered in the rematch against Chris Weidman at UFC 168, in December last year, seems to have been left behind. Last week, a Brazilian released a video in which he appears walking on the treadmill and has now used his official profile on Twitter to publish an image of a floor training session.
“I'm coming back,” said the former middleweight champion in a quick message released alongside the photograph. Despite this, Anderson did not make it clear whether the image used in the publication was from the archive or whether it was actually taken recently. Spider's tweet generated several responses from fans, most of whom were excited about the Brazilian's statement about his return. Among the comments, the one from the North American Derek Brunson, also a UFC fighter. “The best ever,” Brunson wrote.
At 38, Anderson Silva has a record of 33 wins and six losses. Middleweight champion between October 2006 and July 2013, the Brazilian holds the record for consecutive Ultimate belt defenses, having defeated ten challengers before losing the title. Last year, Anderson suffered his first defeat in seven years after being beaten by the American Chris Weidman in July. In the rematch against the executioner, in December, Silva suffered another setback after fracturing his left leg in the second round. Spider's last victory in the octagon was over Stephan bonnar, in October 2012, in the main fight of UFC Rio 3.
