Lyoto Machida e Gegard Mousasi, who are taking part in the main fight of UFC Fight Night 36, in Jaraguá do Sul, had no problem making weight in the middleweight category this Friday (14).
The Brazilian, making his second fight in the division, weighed 83,9 kg on the scale, the same as in his first fight at middleweight, in October last year. Mousasi was just above, with 84,3 kg. It is his UFC middleweight debut, although he has already fought at this weight in other events.
Ronaldo Jacare and Francis Carmont, who face each other in the co-main event of the night, also showed no difficulty in reaching the category limit. Neither of them needed to count on the pound (0,45 kg) tolerance for fights that are not valid for the title. The Frenchman drew attention when he went up to the weigh-in accompanied by Georges St Pierre, former UFC welterweight champion and training partner of Carmont.
Maximo Blanco, who faces Felipe Sertanejo In the featherweight category, he was the only one who was unsuccessful at the weigh-in. Using a towel, the Venezuelan living in Japan was 700 grams over the allowed amount and will have to lose this amount within an hour. If he fails, he will have to give up part of his purse to his opponent. Another highlight of the weigh-in was Charles of the Bronx, which, dry, was 1 kg below the limit for the featherweight category.
UFC Fight Night 36 will take place this Saturday (15), starting at 22:30 pm Brasília time.
