Wallid Ismail, president of Jungle Fight, reestablished the partnership with Central Única de Favelas (Cufa) in order to resume the Jungle Favela project, which consists of events held in needy communities in Rio de Janeiro.
The next edition will be on March 8th, at Viaduto de Madureira, in the North Zone of Rio de Janeiro. O Jungle Fight has been investing in community events since 2011, having already organized them in Cidade de Deus, Rocinha and Mangueira. The intention is that, by the end of the year, 11 more events will be held.
According to Ismail, one of the intentions of the partnership is to encourage the development of talent in the regions. “The aim of Jungle Favela is to develop MMA in the favelas of Rio de Janeiro and the world. Let's start bringing fighters from communities around the world. We are sure that great talents will emerge from this project. In these places, people learn to deal with life's difficulties from an early age, they have the warrior spirit”, considers the former fighter.
“This partnership already existed, and we are returning due to the great success we achieved in previous editions. I am very pleased to be able to announce the return of Jungle Favelas”, he continued.
The official card for the event has not yet been defined. In previous editions, Júnior Abedi and Marcos Vinícius “Cabecinha” were some of the highlights.
