Last week, heavyweight Pat Barry announced that he was stepping away from MMA, terminated his contract with the UFC and stated that he was thinking about returning to his roots in combat sports. In the official note released by his manager, Barry claimed that practicing grappling in mixed martial arts was becoming a huge nuisance and became one of the main reasons for his withdrawal from the sport. This Monday (03), through your Twitter, Pat announced his return to kickboxing.

“My first kickboxing fight since 2007 will take place on March 22nd, in Richmond, capital of Virginia, at a WKA (World Kickboxing Association) event and then Glory will debut in May!”, wrote the fighter on his official profile on the microblogging network. Among Glory's heavyweights, the fighter will be joined by Mirko Cro-cop, who is having his first fight in the organization in March, as well as the Brazilians Jonathan Diniz, Fabiano Cyclone and Anderson Silva, namesake of the former UFC middleweight champion.

At 34 years old, Pat Barry has a record of eight wins and seven losses. Barry's statistics throughout his career justify his preference for striking over grappling. Seven of his victories came by knockout or technical knockout, compared to just one decision. In one of the most memorable moments of his career, “HD”, as he is known, suffered one of the most impressive comebacks in the history of the UFC by landing a relentless follow-up on Cheick Kongo and then ending up knocked out by the staggering Frenchman, who had difficulties until to remain standing. The North American has also faced athletes such as Mirko Cro-Cop and Stefan struve in the most famous octagon on the planet.
