After the defeat to José Aldo at UFC 169, last Saturday (01), North American Ricardo Lamas used his official profile on the social network Twitter to comment on the fight. Lamas was grateful for the opportunity given by Ultimate, he also apologized to fans who may have been disappointed with his performance and congratulated the featherweight champion on yet another successful title defense. In his message to Aldo, the challenger even used some words in Portuguese.
“I'm sorry if I disappointed anyone. Thank you to Dana White, the UFC, Sean Shelby and Lorenzo Fertitta for the opportunity. I promise to come back even stronger. My greetings to José Aldo”, published Lamas on the microblogging network. Soon after, in Portuguese, the North American congratulated Aldo. “Congratulations champion”, he concluded. Son of a Mexican mother and Cuban father, Ricardo Lamas trains at the MMA Masters academy, in Miami (USA), run by Brazilians Daniel Valverde and César Carneiro.
Last Saturday (01), in Newark (USA), José Aldo defeated Ricardo Lamas by unanimous decision of the judges and defended the featherweight belt in the co-main fight of UFC 169. In the main event of the night, the Brazilian Renan Barao beat the North American Urijah faber by technical knockout in the first round and retained the bantamweight title. In addition to Aldo and Barão, two other Brazilians entered the Octagon on fight night: Alan Nuguette, who won John makdessi, and John Lineker, who was surpassed by Russian Ali Bagautinov.
