It didn't work for Gleison Tibau. First Brazilian representative on the preliminary card of the World Cup finals PFL 2022, an event that takes place this Friday (25), the Potiguar suffered with a massive Magomed Magomedkerimov and was defeated in a unanimous decision by the judges. The duel took place at welterweight (up to 77kg).
Experienced, Tibau feels the 'bitter taste' of the second defeat in a row – the third in the PFL. At 39 years old, the former UFC fighter has a record of 36 positive results and 17 negative results in his career.

Magomedkerimov, who was a PFL finalist in the 2021 edition, scores his second victory in the series. Younger, at 32 years old, he has 31 triumphs and six setbacks. In his career in the organization, he had his arms raised 11 times, while he only lost the final against Ray Cooper III.
Tibau suffers with size and loses to Magomedkerimov
The two fighters began studying each other in the center of the cage, Magomedkerimov tried to enter with the first initiatives and kicks from the waist line, in addition to keeping the fight within his range so as not to be surprised. Tibau, in turn, had difficulty keeping his distance and was frequently hit. The Brazilian unsuccessfully attempted a takedown. In the final stretch, Magomed felt more comfortable and made good attempts, which went blank.
Tibau changed his strategy in the second round and went for a leg attack. Magomedkerimov, however, made the save and took control at the fence. The Brazilian managed to free himself and the fight returned to the center of the cage, with the Russian taking the action with attempted kicks and punches. The Russian threw a good right punch that made the Brazilian shake, but Gleison did well and resisted the pressure.
Gleison tried a takedown again and got it. On the other hand, Magomedkerimov got out of position with ease. The Russian began to cautiously approach the Brazilian and, with the advantage in his hands, he played the anti-game on the cage.
