Speculated to be the opponent of Jon Jones in the debut of the former light heavyweight champion (up to 93kg) in the heavyweight division (up to 120,2kg), Curtis blaydes He showed himself prepared for the opportunity, which he sees as a “consolation prize” compared to the chance to fight for the title.

In an interview with the “Fanatics View” channel, Blaydes revealed that he learned about the possibility of facing Jon Jones or to serve as a reserve for a title fight between the former light heavyweight champion and Francis Ngganou through news on the internet and assured that he will be ready for the opportunity when the time comes.

I'll be in champion mode and mentality, so I'll be ready. Let's see what happens. I don't mind being a reserve, because you never know what's going to happen to Jon (Jones). Never know. I'll be there and obviously I'll be in weight. I will be ready”, assured Blaydes.

“The title fight is the main objective. Jon is just the biggest consolation prize, but I work every day for the real belt, not the interim one. I really want the belt,” he concluded.
