Weidman celebrates the fact that Belfort is tested regularly even without TRT

At least until the date and location of the middleweight belt fight between Chris Weidman e Vitor belfort are defined, Testosterone Replacement Treatment (TRT) should be the main subject related to the duel. This Wednesday (30), Weidman celebrated the fact that the Brazilian is tested regularly and has his testosterone levels monitored, regardless of whether he obtains authorization to use TRT or not.

“I don’t know how these things work. I asked Lorenzo (Fertitta) and he told me that Belfort will ask for permission to use the TRT. I was happy when I heard that, whether he receives permission or not, he will be tested and things like that. Lorenzo would be surprised if we weren't tested during this preparation”, said the American, in an interview with the North American radio program “SiriusXM Fight Club”.

The champion also raised suspicions about the Brazilian's conduct if he is not subjected to regular anti-doping tests. “What I heard was that, if Vitor didn't ask for permission, he wouldn't be tested during training and would have the chance to wear whatever he wanted, just stopping at the right time to avoid being caught in the exams before the fight. If he is given permission to do therapy, then he will be tested frequently. I was thinking: 'I hope he comes up with this (TRT)'. So, I don't know... I was just happy to know that he will be tested whether or not he is allowed to do TRT, because he has already been caught in another anti-doping test before”, he declared.

Finally, Weidman denied that he had any influence on the UFC's decision to promote the fight against Belfort in Las Vegas (USA), as the Brazilian had fought his last three fights in Brazil and using the TRT. “I had nothing to do with the decision to take the fight to Las Vegas. Zero. I was waiting to talk after the fight against Anderson Silva, wanting to know where we were going to fight, and suddenly it was reported that the fight would take place in May or July, and that it would be in Las Vegas. I thought it was great,” he concluded.
