Definitely Patrick Pitbull did not accept Bellator's choice to give Pat Curran a new chance to compete for the featherweight belt, which currently belongs to Daniel Straus.

Straus stole the belt from Curran in November, and the expectation was that Pitbull, coming off four consecutive victories, would be next in line for the dispute. However, Bellator decided to give Curran another chance, in a fight already scheduled for March 14th.

The Brazilian once again criticized the organization's choice and stated that, precisely because he sees a mobilization for Curran to be the champion, he will direct his entire support towards Straus.

“I'm rooting for Straus, just for Bellator to have a champion they wouldn't want. It's very clear that they have a preference for Pat Curran, and they proved it by giving him the rematch,” said Pitbull.

The outrage over the events made him even threaten to leave Bellator. “I know they don't want me as champion of the event and they proved the same with Straus. So, since they don’t value me for what I’ve done, let them release me from the contract,” he vented.

However, even considering leaving the event, Pitbull did not rule out the possibility of facing Curran if he beats Straus. “One way or another they [Bellator] are going to have to swallow a champion they don't want. Either Straus beats Curran, or I'll do it myself.”

Pitbull has already fought with the two athletes who will compete again for the Bellator title. He beat Daniel Straus in 2011, but lost to Curran in his next fight in 2013.
