After much speculation, Vitor belfort recently revealed that he will make a request to the Nevada Athletic Commission to use Testosterone Replacement Treatment (TRT) in the fight against Chris Weidman, with no official date set yet. In the opinion of the commission itself, however, it is difficult for Brazilians to obtain authorization to use hormone replacement therapy. According to the organization's current president Francisco Aguilar, authorization to fight should not be a problem for Belfort, while the request to use the TRT is something new for fights in the state.

“I think the request to use TRT is relatively new, and it's not very common for there to be a request to do it here in Nevada. Authorizing Mr. Belfort's request is something new for us, but I don't think it will tip the scales to yes or no. License to fight will not be a problem. Permission for the use of hormone replacement therapy may be possible,” said Aguilar, in an interview with the “MMA Junkie” website.

Despite putting forward his expectations, the president did not want to make a decision. For Francisco Aguilar, it is necessary to analyze Belfort's case individually. “I don’t want to speculate whether Vitor belfort whether or not I will receive authorization to use TRT before I hear the whole story and learn about the case completely. We have already dealt with cases involving several fighters, with very specific characteristics. We have to analyze each of them individually”, he concluded.

To obtain authorization from the Nevada State Athletic Commission to use TRT, Vitor belfort You will have to prove, through documents and exams, that you need treatment for health reasons. In addition, Brazilians must send a commitment form to the entity ensuring that they have never used any prohibited substance. In this case, however, an episode that occurred in 2006 in Las Vegas could harm Belfort. At the time, when he was still playing for the now-defunct PRIDE, the “Phenomenon” was caught taking an anti-doping test after his first fight against Dan Henderson. After the incident, the carioca denied that he had consciously used the substance tetrahydroxytestosterone, present in the test.
