Benson Henderson assured that the disappointment of losing the UFC lightweight belt will not hinder him in his next fight, against Josh thomson, this Saturday (25), in the main fight of UFC on Fox 10.

In August 2013, Henderson was dethroned in the 70 kg category after being submitted by his former tormentor, Anthony Pettis, who had also stolen the WEC belt from him in 2010. Even though he was upset by what happened, the former champion said he has already left his frustration behind.

“I can be sad for a month, six months or three years. But at some point, I need to man up and move on. There are many more horrible things that can happen to people every day, much worse things than losing the UFC title”, he pondered, in an excerpt reproduced by the North American website MMA Fighting. “At some point, I have to leave this behind. Let it happen now. The sooner it happens, the better, because then I don't waste time and can go back to correct my mistakes. I made mistakes against Frankie Edgar, against Nate diaz and Gilbert Melendez. But Anthony Pettis He was the only guy to take advantage of my mistakes and end the fight”, he continued.

Henderson was determined to regain the UFC title, even if he had to face Pettis on a third opportunity. “When I get my belt back, I hope it's still with Pettis. We'll see. I have no idea, but I'm going to get my belt back. If I have to take the belt from Pettis, that’s fine with me.”

The North American also took the opportunity to praise his next opponent, highlighting his vast experience in the world of fights. “Thomson is one of the true veterans. He has been everywhere, fought everywhere. It's not just about his opponents, it's about the people he trains with. People don't realize that. He's seen it all. 'Did you see that new trick?'
