Ricardo Lamas is confident that he will be able to end the reign of José Aldo in the UFC featherweight division early next month. The North American will face the Brazilian in the co-main event of UFC 169, in New Jersey, in the United States, and will try not to be another challenger who succumbs to the champion's pressure.

Aldo has been the featherweight champion since the category was created in the UFC in 2011, as he has held the WEC event belt since 2009. Even though the Brazilian is in full dominance, Lamas is betting that a defeat for the champion will happen at one time or another.

“All reigns end one day, all champions must fall. It happens sooner or later, and I want to be the one to do it. It's a huge opportunity. Not many people know me, but after this fight, many will talk about me”, said the challenger, in an interview with the North American website Bleacher Report.

Lamas praised Aldo's qualities, but stated that he will overcome the Brazilian based on his mistakes. “I don’t see any big holes in his game. He is a very technical and solid fighter, but he makes mistakes like everyone else, and I will expose those mistakes and take advantage. I always go to my fights in shape and fight until the last second. If I see that he is tired, I will increase the pace,” he pointed out.
