Ronaldo Jacare Souza does not believe that Francis Carmont will be able to defeat him at UFC Fight Night 36, which will take place on February 15th, in the city of Jaraguá do Sul, in Santa Catarina.

The French fighter is undefeated in the UFC after six fights, and is coming off a victory against Costas Philippou after dominating the Cypriot in the three rounds of the contest. A black belt in jiu-jitsu and one of the most successful fighters in the gentle art, Jacaré hopes that Carmont's ground game is no match for his experience.

“To date, I haven't faced any opponent who has tried to take me down and use wrestling against me, so I want to have this challenge of facing someone who tries to put me down. I hope he does it, but no one holds me down,” said Jacaré. “I get up, scrape and get back on my feet quickly. I want to see him keep me down. But I think, in fact, he will play a game of mixing striking with ground to confuse me”, he predicted.

However, Jacaré once again hopes to be able to finish the fight quickly, just as he did in his previous UFC performances, with Chris Camozzi and Yushin Okami, whom he submitted and knocked out, respectively, in the first round.

“Lately I’ve been training with big people, but I’m not going to wait around. I'm going to shorten the distance to get out by hand. I'm not going to exchange jabs. I'm going to go up, let go of my hand, and I want to see if he can handle it”, she said. “If he tries to take me to the third round it will be a battle, but I will do everything I can to be quick.”

The fight between Jacaré, ranked third in the middleweight rankings, and Carmont, ranked eighth, will be the co-main event of UFC Fight Night 36. The highlight of the night will be the middleweight clash Lyoto Machida e Gegard Mousasi.
