The quick defeat suffered by Travis Browne at UFC 168 left the experienced Josh Barnett confused. After succumbing to the fight after just a minute of activity, the veteran stated, in an interview with the North American website MMA Fighting, that it is difficult to draw conclusions from what happened.

“Honestly, it’s not even a question of finding out what went wrong. Sometimes you just don't show up to fight. After 17 years [as a professional fighter], I can say that I've had some tough nights, or I've had nights where I didn't perform as well as I would have liked. But that was the only time I even showed up”, explained Barnett, who, against the Hawaiian, suffered the seventh defeat of his career.

“I feel like I didn’t even fight. Some other guy entered the octagon, but it wasn't me. That was very strange. But after being in this sport for so long, it's not that surprising that this could have happened,” he continued.

However, Barnett avoided complaining about the legality of Browne's elbows. “They're questionable, but at the same time, I'm an old-school guy. Goal kicks, stomps, knees... I'd rather have that than these rules that are almost arbitrary, that want to regulate the location of an elbow and the angle it needs to have. This kind of thing is ridiculous. I would do the same with Browne”, he said.
